The fue-fuki, or “piper,” motif that has been drawn for more than 60 years by pottery manufacturer KUTANI CHOEMON, is now a skeleton puffing on a kiseru pipe. The design uses a copperplate transfer printing technique that was the standard in Hasami ceramic painting during the Meiji and Taisho eras. The coffee is a mild blend made from Tanzanian AA-size beans grown on the slopes of the Ngorongoro crater in the district of Karatu, and has a nutty sweetness with caramel highlights.

Dishwasher and microwave safe. Not oven or induction safe. Avoid direct flame. The copperplate transfer printing technique used can result in slips and gaps that create subtle variations. The hand-drawn sections use a gosu blue paint that gives each piece unique color variations.
